Achiever’s Obedience – Version 6 (Apr 2018)
Newfy and Obedience are not two words you normally put together but we know from many control sections in draught work that Newfies are secretly good at obedience. there is a slight time delay between the instruction getting to the part of the brain where it is understood and all of this is taken into account.
We have called these tests ‘Achiever’s Obedience’ to distinguish them from Kennel Club Obedience which would entail all kinds of compliance with Kennel Club regulations. These tests will measure the relationship between you and your dog and their ability to respond to commands.
These awards have been designed so handlers can start from the moment they get their puppy and allow them to develop skills and commands which will be very useful when taking part in the other working disciplines of water, draught and nose work.
