Regulations – Achiever’s Water V7 – May 2018

The achiever’s awards will encourage you to achieve more with your Newfoundland in the water than perhaps you ever thought possible. They will be helping you to accomplish training for the tests, without feeling that you’re destined only to fail at one section if your dog is unable or unwilling to do some of the test elements.

These are usually:

  1. The underwater retrieve
  2. Jumping out of a boat
  3. The controlled swim

Because of this, many teams do not progress in their water skills.  It has often been said that ‘my dog can do all of section D but can’t get past section B because of the underwater retrieve’ for example.

Well, now we have something else you can try…

These awards have been designed to celebrate what you have already achieved in the tests or in some of the many fun display elements you might use in demonstrations to the public.

The Achiever’s Awards have three grades:

There are eleven elements in each grade.  Each grade has been split into three sections. You choose 3 elements to demonstrate and achieve Grade 1 and 4 elements for Grades 2 and 3.  The only criteria is that at least one element must come from each section.
This way, you can progress fully with your dog and finally get to that next grade.  Just like the regular tests You can gain multi-passes and, if you pass all three levels you will be awarded your water Award of Distinction.

NOTE: When you are at a test event, you will need to know the number of the exercises you wish to undertake so please make sure you have a note of them when you book in.
