Standard Water Tests V3 – May 2017

The Regulations in use today by the Breed Clubs are based on original test written over 20 years ago. They have recently undergone a review and it is our intention to run these tests in exactly the same way and under the same strict standards as they have always been run.  Unfortunately, the 3 Breed Clubs will not recognise the tests that we do.

However, it is our policy to recognise any passes you have already obtained at any event held under these test conditions and any that you pass in the future with the 3 Breed Clubs.

We believe that the Standard Tests are an excellent way of testing our Newf’s abilities in the water.  During the reviews, all three Breed Clubs agreed on the overall content of the actual tests but all three have slight variations in the ways that tests will be run – these differences are listed in the addendum of their test regulations.  We will have differences in our awards system but these differ throughout the Clubs and in no way do they affect the actual tests themselves.

We believe that dogs and handlers who achieve the highest awards in the Standard Water and Draught tests deserve to be called Champions to recognise the skill and dedication demanded to reach these levels.
